About the Opportunity

Samuel Smith & Son now has a unique opportunity for a full-time On Premise Sales Manager on a 12 month contract to join their team in Melbourne, VIC. This is a rare opportunity to become part of an outstanding company, known globally for its reputation in the wine industry. 

In this role you will assume responsibility for managing a team of on premise area managers and you will play a pivotal role in helping to grow the profitability and business within the Victorian market.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing relationships, and identifying / developing new opportunities;
  • Achieving volume, revenue and profit targets;
  • Driving the sales team to continue to meet and exceed their sales, distribution and financial targets;
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with all stakeholders;
  • Developing customer trading agreements and managing the ongoing review of their effectiveness; and
  • Ensuring execution excellence of brand and channel initiatives through the CRM system.

About You

Samuel Smith & Son is seeking a confident team player with strong commercial acumen, solid working knowledge of P&Ls, and demonstrated management experience in a sales environment overseeing a diverse group of people. As part of the role, your responsibilities will be divided between performing office based management duties, mentoring your team in the field as well as servicing a small succinct territory of high profile on trade accounts.

In order to capitalise on the dynamic nature of the Melbourne on premise scene, you will be well networked and have your hand on the pulse, keeping abreast of new business development opportunities and ideas to grow your territory.

Energetic, persistent and results-focused, you'll act as a mentor for your team members and will lead from the front, inspiring others to achieve their goals. The ability to make your decisions heard, while still maintaining a positive working relationship with others and actively listening to employees' feedback, will also be evidence of your strong leadership capability.

The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, assuring your ability to build rapport with all key stakeholders. Your excellent communication skills will allow you to articulate clearly to people of all backgrounds.

Importantly, you'll possess thorough understanding of the wine industry, as well as a genuine interest in wine and a desire to develop your career further in this rewarding field.

In addition, Samuel Smith & Son is looking for someone who is competent in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and has experience with/knowledge of CRM platforms, including how to manage teams through these systems.
